Hope

The word of week we want to focus on here is hope. Hope is a very important yet delicate concept. Hope is what many long for in what seems to be a hopeless situation. Yet hope in itself is perception.

The adage is the glass is either half empty or half full. One person who has hope will see it half full the one lacking hope will see it half empty. What makes hope so important is the domino effect it can throughout a person’s life. When we lose hope not only do we sink to emotional lows but our thinking and actions began to reflect what we believe. This leads to a seemingly hopeless situation to become a reality.

If we really sit back and reflect we will realize that many situations we thought were hopeless were not as bad as we made them out to be.  To understand hope we will look at a few verses in the Bible that address hope. Hopefully looking at what the Bible says will show the need stay hopeful, the reasons to keep hope alive, and to always have hope no matter what situation we may face in life.

To began I want to quote what Jesus said in St. John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” Here Christ gives his disciples hope and peace, two topics that I have been writing on.  Jesus let the disciples know they would go through hard times much like He himself did. They would endure trouble, be ridicule by man, and suffer persecution but through all this He said be of good cheer. Christ overcame the world through His death on cross. Jesus conquered the prince of this world and took away all his power. Jesus overcame the evil in the world through His submission to the cross though He was crucified He was found blameless. Christ was tempted, accused, and abused yet He did not sin. Christ also overcame the wicked in the world. He put to shame all those who sought to do evil against Him. This particular verse is for us to take hope.

Jesus is simply saying that all the trouble we can possibly face in the world I have overcome it all. I have mastered it all. Just as Christ has the victory over the world so shall we have victory over the world through him. So let us always have hope as there is no situation without hope as Jesus Christ is Lord and has power overall our troubles!

More to come soon on reason never to give up hope
